Slash ‘N’ Art — A Night Where Music Met Canvas
I recently attended an inspiring vernissage at Strand Hotel, where the walls seemed to hum with rock nostalgia. Photographer Jonas Hessman — a close friend and true talent behind the lens — showcased his work, with one standout piece: his unforgettable 1997 portrait of Slash, taken during Guns N’ Roses’ legendary Stockholm concert.
This summer, Hessman’s iconic shot takes center stage at Slash ‘N’ Art, an exhibition where creators from different fields reinterpret the image in their own way — a true meeting point of music and visual art.
People stayed late into the evening, and the atmosphere was electric. All art pieces were up for purchase, and perhaps the biggest highlight — the original Slash portrait could even be won.
What was missing from the picture of the night? Maybe just the fans who should’ve been there — the ones who were busy watching Guns N’ Roses across town.
